What is Yoga

Yoga is practice to achieve physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing and ultimate goal is to achieve the peace of mind with physical fitness. If we study the ancient history of Hinduism, there are total 8 types of yoga viz,  “Yama”-  related to truth and nonviolence, “Niyam” - related to healthy habits, “Asana” – related different poses of exercise, “Pranayama” -  related to breathing exercise, “Pratyahara” – Related to withdrawal, “Dharana” – related to emotions and positive thoughts/ belief, “Dhyana” – related to attention i.e. and “Samadhi” - related to merging the physical body into cosmic i.e. feeling weightless unconsciousness. Thus, Meditation and Pranayama are the part of Yoga.  
Yoga is combination of breathing exercises called as “Pranayam” with the use of different physical poses and generally ending with relaxation called as Meditation.
Yoga is a way of breathing exercise and Indian ancient technique of human consciousness originated in the upper region of the Himalayas many thousands of years ago, and then it was spread all over the world.
Yoga helps to bring physical and mental well-being and spiritual vibrance into the lives of humans. Yoga focuses more on physical fitness other than mental and spiritual practices and consisting mainly breathing practices with body postures.
So, Yoga is mainly breathing exercises and generally called as “Pranayam” which is typically ending with relaxation called as Meditation.
Modern yoga consist of exercise like aerobics, gymnastic like postures, standing poses, Surya namaskar (sequential salute to sun) and many more but remember, Yoga is breathing exercise helps to mix the oxygen in blood, vibrate the nerve and brain to enhance its stimulating power, intelligence and reduce the stress. It also helps to cure many diseases related to kidney, heart, lungs, blood, etc.


Science behind Yoga

Yoga helps people's well-being, it helps to combat stress and above all, it helps to improve lung function, it helps to mix oxygen in the blood and thus contributes to faster decision-making. It also helps control the secretion of harmful enzymes in the body.
When you start doing yoga regularly, yogic breathing helps improve blood circulation by stimulating the lungs and heart in relation to the brain. Yogic breathing also helps stimulate your body's enzymes like saliva.
When you regularly practice yoga, you can observe that there was a small salivary stimulation and that it is good for people suffering from dry mouth. Saliva has so many compounds, it's not just a digestive fluid, it has proteins, hormones, growth factors and so on, one of them was the nerve growth factor.
As the name suggests, growth factor, it is a protein that helps nerve cells, neurons to grow to survive, resist stress and live longer and nerve growth factor is reduced, which found at lower levels in Alzheimer'spatients. Thus, nerve growth factor is administered as a therapeutic agent to these patients. Thus, yoga can help treat or prevent Alzheimer's disease.
Thus, these people who exercise yogic breathing regularly have more nerve growth factor and more than 22 growth factors of different proteins, hormones involved in various conditions, including cancer, immune response, stress and pain.
Breathing stimulates salivary secretion and saliva contains a nerve growth factor and several other factors that are transported to the central nervous system via specific transport mechanisms or can be absorbed into the bloodstream and available throughout the body or they can just stay there in the world cavity to help us fight the germs.
So, yoga can change your behavior, or you can practice something that will change the components and make you feel better physically and mentally. It can also be helpful to heal cancer patients, elderly mental health patients and improve student intelligence.
If you want to control your mind, but controlling the mind is not easy, the mind is very elusive, as Eastern philosophy says, the mind is a monkey, it is not a normal monkey, is a drunk monkey bitten by the scorpion, it's crazy, we can't control it, but Euler's theorem says there is an easy way for the mind not to travel alone, the mind needs to 'a vehicle, the mind uses a horse, that horse is your breath. So if you want to control the mind, the rider, you have to control the vehicle, the horse the breathing, so controlling the mind is possible by controlling the breath, whether you're practicing sophisticated. Yogic breathing techniques pay attention to your breathing. it will improve your physical and mental health. It will reduce your stress and you will be the happiest person.

Connection between Yoga and Meditation

How many of you are breathing,  I certainly hope, you all are, but do we really pay attention to how we breathe, do we know how to regulate our breathing, because regulated breathing has lot of health and mental benefits.
This regulated/ controlled breathing can reduce your stress, make you cheerful thus improve your physical as well as mental health. As your mental and physical health is associated with your relations, personal as well as social, it is very important to maintain a good health.
Yoga and Meditation helps to regulate breathing and generally called as yogic breathing or pranayama. Here we try to understand the relationship between Meditation and Yoga, the science behind Yoga and Meditation and how to perform it scientifically to remove the stress i.e. to improve the mental and physical health.

Similarities and link between Yoga and Meditation

Some of us understand that meditation and yoga are different, and this is also true. But despite this separation, there is a strong link between the two and we cannot consider them as completely different because they are well interconnected. Meditation and yoga are both used to relieve stress, your mindfulness, relax, and improve your immune system. Both are useful for health and mental peace.
To better understand meditation and yoga, one must understand its origin. It is a mixture of various approaches to meditation in the oriental style, other Buddhist traditions and some western ideas on meditation and yoga. But the fact is that meditation and yoga are Indian traditions to keep the mind peaceful and maintain good health. Even a Buddha born in India, he learns yoga and meditation in India only and spreads all over the world. So, the fact is that Buddhism was born in India and Indian meditation yoga traditions are in many ways part of the same thing.
Therefore, meditation is part of yoga and yoga has traditionally been part of meditation. The two are connected to the mind, that is. both focusing on one point. Often, we come to understand yoga, just like workout or focus on the poses is to make the body sweaty and strong, but this is not true at all. In fact, yoga is about the mind, the word yoga means "to connect" and therefore what we really do is try to connect the mind by being fully present in every action and every moment.
Yoga poses help connect the body, mind, and spirit to help us be present with these aspects of ourselves. In India, according to Hinduism, the philosophy of yoga includes the Yoga Sutras which are eight members of yoga. These eight yoga sutras are very crucial because they help us to stop the fluctuations of the mind, they help us to get rid of the ego, to focus and to focus on one point, that is to say divine, so that we can be free to live life in the moment.
It is therefore very clear that yoga is a type of meditation that helps us to connect with the embodied spirit. So, whether you are a mindful practitioner interested in yoga or a yoga practitioner interested in mindfulness, the two practices can be mutually supportive and mutually reinforcing. So, in addition to doing yoga, look for the Yoga Sutras or the eight limbs of yoga.

Yoga is a practice to achieve physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. There are total of eight types of yoga according to the ancient history of Hinduism which clearly says that meditation and pranayama are also part of yoga only. The modern lifestyle is stressful, and several people suffer from stress, depression, and anxiety. Yoga helps control the hormones responsible for stress from the brain to the relief of depression and anxiety. It is also a breathing practice; therefore, it helps to mix oxygen more efficiently in the blood, therefore it feels more energetic.
